Replacement vacuum pumps
Linac machines are equipped with vacuum pumps, which need to be serviced after several years of operation. These Ion Getter Pumps are housed in a magnet assembly and can easily be disassembled from your system. Alphatron, global supplier of linac magnetrons and thyratrons, now also offers new and rebuild vacuum pumps for your linac machine from different brands such as Varian, Perkin Elmer,Physical Electronics, Riber, Edwards and Leybold.
Advantage Elekta machines
Our pumps are suitable for various linac machines but we offer a great advantage in case you have an Elekta linac machine.
These machines used to be equipped with the Edwards vacuum pump EP 1/30 but this pump is no longer made by the OEM. New Elekta machines now have Varian Ion Getter Pumps instead of the Edwards pumps. Elekta recommends pumps fitted in older Elekta machines to be replaced by Varian pumps. This is a very costly procedure.
We now offer you a much cheaper option which is to have your existing EP1/30 Ion Getter Pump re-build. Not only will you have the same performance as before, it also does not require expensive modifications. All you need to do is to remove and replace the saturated ion pump. What is more, the warranty on rebuild Ion Getter Pumps is identical to a new pump.
