e2v technologies are the manufacturers of the world-renowned EEV brand of marine radar magnetrons and components. EEV products are meeting all requirements for the multitude of system types used today.
Today e2v technologies are recognised as a specialist supplier of RF, microwave and sensing component and sub-systems with a strong, and in a number of cases leading, positions in global, niche markets.
The origins of e2v technologies can be traced back to the 1940s to the development of magnetrons for use in defence radar applications. Since this time the company has developed a unique set of competencies, both technological and commercial, which has seen them consistently demonstrate their ability to innovate and bring high technology products to market.
Their range of high-power vacuum tubes are the enabling technology behind a diverse range of applications from the transmission of TV signals to life saving cancer radiotherapy machines. They have also looked to provide customers with value added product offerings, integrating power supplies and modulators around their vacuum tube devices. Examples of this are Stellar, high-power satellite uplink amplifiers and the compact modulator for driving magnetrons in a range of linear accelerator applications.
Their sensor technologies are extensive. They supply the ultimate in image sensors for space mission instruments, such as the Hubble Space Telescope, and for use by dentists to capture digital images of our teeth. Fire fighters around the world have grown to rely on e2v's Argus thermal imaging cameras for critical support in saving lives. e2v technologies lead the way with the world-leading performance of their Gunn diodes, the signal source for adaptive cruise control systems now found on the market in luxury cars.
They operate from two manufacturing sites in the UK, where they employ around 1200 people. Their sales activity is truly global - they export over 65% of what they make - with direct sales offices in the UK, United States of America, France and Germany. In addition they have an extensive network of distributors, giving them a coverage in over 100 countries.
